Pressed Deep a poem by Jennifer Esperanza

Pressed Deep a poem by Jennifer Esperanza

Pressed Deep

Wrap me in silk brocade

the color of forest mosses
it’s patterns pressed deep
with wild flowers
gathered at the hips
& falling in folds like theater curtains

in dark & moist old movie theaters

I can feel the costumes of a thousand actors

brush against my neck &
hit against my ankles.
